VII. SUBSTITUTIONS
There are restrictions on position substitutions. They are as follows:
QB may only play as a QB
HB may only play as a HB or FB
FB may only play as a FB, HB or TE
WR may only play as WR
TE may only play as a TE, FB or WR
OL may only play as a OL, DL
DL may only play as a DL, OL
LB may only play as a LB
S may only play as a DB
CB may only play as DBs with the exception of playing WR on some teams in certain situations.
(Example: Deangelo Hall of VA Tech plays both CB and WR. Virginia Tech also used Marcus Vick as a WR because they believed he was too good of an athlete to leave on the bench. Chris Gamble from Ohio State also goes both ways on occasion.) The key here is that although those guys are great athletes, neither plays both ways for the entire game, so it is ONLY allowed in the OCFL situationally. Once such a sub has been made, YOU MUST NOTIFY the opposing coach that you have made such a substitution. Going both ways in College and Pro Football is the exception and not the norm so know your team and do not abuse this rule!
IMPORTANT: Substitutions can be dicey. We've had some instances in the past with illegal/cheap subs that were designed to take advantage of the games AI (pitting a #1 or #2 WR in the Slot so that he matches up with a #3 or #4 DB or LB) so therefore we urge that realistic subbing be used. If you have a better player on the default roster that is slated behind a player of lesser rank, you can swap them, however, we don't want to see your #1 WR or #2 WR being subbed for your #3 or #4 WR so that he can get unfair advantages against the Defenses. You may also flip flop your #1 and #2 WR is you wish, HOWEVER, you must notify your opponent of the substitution so that he can make a decsion on whether to reassign his DB or not. In other words, you may NOT put in a #1 or #2 receiver in the slot (moving to 3rd or 4th position in the depth chart) to gain an unfair advantage. You are allowed to swap around WR's of the same quality, including #1 for #2 or vice versa but you are obligated to pause and tell the opposing coaches of ANY WR personelle changes. We also had a situation where the previous Florida State coach used Greg Jones at FB while using Willie Reid as the TB. This is Legal as your RBs may play either TB or FB. Much like Auburn has Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams (reminiscent of Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen in the back field at the same time with the Raiders). If you are blessed with good backs, feel free to use them. But realize that your are giving up the blocking of your true FB.
There are no restrictions on special teams subs.
Note: Be aware that if a player mass subs in his 2nd or 3rd team Offense or Defense there maybe Offensive players on Defense and Defense players on Offense as this is a flaw in the game because each team has a limited amount of subs.
VIII. SCHEDULES
Full team schedules can be found on the team schedules page of the website as well as on league daddy. The message boards will also contain the current weeks schedule in the Schedules thread.
IX. QB DROPS
QBs are only allowed to drop back within the parameters of standard QB drops for pass plays
(except when under extreme pressure by the defense). This rule is in place to prevent the popular tactic of dropping your QB 10-20 yards deep to allow your WRs time to break free from defensive coverage. QB Roll-outs are legal. However, be careful that you are not dropping the QB too far back from the line of scrimmage. Any owner found abusing this rule will be subject to league discipline and/or dismissal from the league.
Ammendment I.
QBs are prohibited from rolling out and taking down the passing icons, getting the DB to choose to between stopping the QB and guarding the WR, and then if the DB picks to stop run bringing them back up to pass and if not running your fast QB as the primary means of an intended offense. One way to contain this was by use of the DE, OLB or DB speed rush which is illegal and guys are taking advantage of that and cheaply using this tactic. I don' want to totally ban this as many team do run the QB quite abit, but many times are taking out there true starters and subbing faster QBs to take advantage of this by having a running QB and are exploiting that as a primary part of their offense. I deem this as CHEAP! Here is where we will stand with this rule:
It will be deemed OK 1 time per drive, if you are truly scrambling your QB and your WR gets open and you throw then pass to them. However, use of this tactic more than 1 time per drive is strictly ILLEGAL! Effective Immediately!
X. GAME SIMULATION
Any owner who has 3 games in a row simulated (3 strikes your out), will be removed from the league and replaced immediately. This is to prevent inactive users from keeping teams from others who really want to participate in league play. Coaches please take note, as no warning will be issued once your second game is simulated, you will just be replaced.
